Music Victoria Summer Music Festival: The Dover String Quartet 2014-07-30 19:30:00

The Dover String Quartet, which swept the 2013 Banff International String Quartet competition, winning the first prize package, awards for best performance of Haydn and Schubert quartets, and best performance of Vivian Fung's imposed piece. A commentator in The Strad has noted that the Dover Quartet is "already pulling away from their peers with their exceptional interpretative maturity, tonal refinement and taut ensemble." They will be playing Josef Haydn's G Major Quartet op. 76, No. 1, his most ambitious quartet; Felix Mendelssohn's Quartet in E minor op. 44, No. 2; and Samuel Barber's B minor Quartet op. 11, the one with the beloved adagio movement.
