Why am I Here? A Child’s Journey through the Holocaust

2038610344 Commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Jan. 27 at the University of Victoria screening of Why Am I Here?, which follows the story of Victoria resident and child Holocaust survivor Julius Maslovat. UVic alumna Chorong Kim directed the documentary film that follows the journey of Maslovat, the youngest prisoner on record at the Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany, and the process Maslovat took to research his own past and to discover the people who helped keep him alive. The screening will also mark the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz. A Q&A with Maslovat and Germanic and Slavic Studies Associate Professor Helga Thorson, the film’s executive producer, will follow the screening.
