Film "ITALY: Love It or Leave It" 2013-08-24 19:15:00

Directors: Luca Ragazzi & Gustav Hofer

Italy, 2012, 75 min; Italian with subtitles

In this hit documentary, Italian journalists/filmmakers Ragazzi and Hofer wonder if those roads leading to Rome don’t also look like escape routes. There is an opportunity to move to Berlin - where rents are a third of the price, there’s less unemployment, and less homophobia too. Also Berlusconi doesn’t live there. Even so, Luca is loathe to leave. So they hop into a vintage FIAT 500 and set off to take stock of "the real Italy", with a pilgrimage to visit George Clooney’s Lake Como villa on the side. –Vancouver International Film Festival

This exhibition offers an in-depth look at the work of five contemporary Northwest Coast artists: Francis Dick, Charles Elliott, Richard Hunt, Tim Paul and Moy Sutherland. Drawing on works from the University of Victoria’s extensive Northwest Coast print collection, this exhibition demonstrates how the artists use traditional stylistic elements and cultural references to express contemporary experience.

Organized by the International Office--Student Experience and the Welcome Centre, the Airport Greeter Program runs daily, Saturday, August 24 through Saturday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

UVic student-volunteers will staff a kiosk in the Victoria International Airport (YYJ), warmly welcoming new, UVic students.

The volunteers meet-and-greet new students (both international and domestic) as they disembark their planes, provide them with refreshments and information, and can assist in directing them to an AKAL shuttle, taxi or car rental kiosk, on their way to UVic or their other accommodation in Victoria.
