Dr. Evert Lindquist will present: Adapting to British Columbia’s New Era & Moving Beyond: Relationship-Building, Funding, and the Non Profit Sector
More than ten years have passed since the arrival of the first Liberal government in 2001. For British Columbia’s non-profit sector the reforms brought upheaval, with the restructuring of ministries followed by significant cutbacks. Non profit and voluntary organizations had to find ways to respond to these dramatic changes through forums such as the Government-Non-Profit Initiative (GNPI). This talk chronicles the evolution of the GNPI and the emergence of other funding opportunities under the 2nd and 3rd Campbell governments. Under a new Liberal government and Premier, a Social Innovation initiative was announced, sitting uneasily with the GNPI. Dr. Lindquist will discuss potential ways to fill critical gaps and to ensure a more integrated, coherent approach for government-non profit relations.
Dr. Lindquist is Professor and Director of the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria.
